CASE STUDY
With the `Credit Crunch’ continuing to bite, car brands being bought and sold, plus the legacy of the recentToyota recall [over quality and safety issues] an investment ***** is having second thoughts about investing in the Morgan Motor Company. The investment *****’s strategy team needs to thoroughly review their strategy for investing in the Niche Motor Car sector.

An earlier report had been commissioned, however, that seemed to have got diverted by the operational and tactical issues of motorcar companies and paid little attention to the various stakeholders and partners such companies are involved with. So, you have now been asked to critically evaluate the strategic potential for theMorgan Motor Company and have been asked to justify your findings and recommendations.

Since the strategy team of the investment  is known to feel that the previous consultancy report had lots of facts but fell well short on critical evaluation, justified options and credible recommendations, the investmentn ’s management team will be asking you to demonstrate your understanding; through open-ended questions on the potential for various aspects of the Morgan Motor Company, looking for you to demonstrate the strongest strategic approaches and to draw upon recognized theories, models and approaches to justify these.

The investment s strategy team is well aware of the time constraint and asks that you restrict yourself to the resources accessible from those listed in Appendix A of this Brief, on My Course, or in your Unit Guide. The strategy team is far more interested in your application of suitable strategic models, theories and approaches to the strategic route(s) that you will be recommending - anything like the last piece of research that the strategy team received, with its descriptive audit points, generic `guff’ on finance / investment and unsubstantiated views will not be very welcome, at all.
