Q # 1: Suppose ABC Company have an office in Lahore. It has currently 50 computers. Now, Management is going to buy a new building in front of old building. They want to extend their network between these two buildings with 50 new computers. :
Answer the questions given below in scenario described above. (5 * 2 = 10 Marks)
(i) If they can afford good budget, which cable will be suitable for networking. (You have to provide two best options. Option 1 has higher priority than Option 2)
(ii) Which network Topology will be better in building network in new building.
(iii) Which network Topology will be better in building network between two buildings.
(iv) Which network device(s) will be used to connect two networks?
v) If we use wireless network between two buildings, what will be drawbacks or risks? (you have to describe two points)

(i) Identify type/name of topology used in the figure above?
(ii) If we have to decrease network cost then which type of measure (s) / action (s) we must take. (Remember the figure given above while answering this question)

Twisted pair cabling is a type of wiring in which two conductors (the forward and return conductors of a single circuit) are twisted together for the purposes of canceling out electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources; for instance, electromagnetic radiation from unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables, and crosstalk between neighboring pairs. It was invented by Alexander Graham Bell.

Which network Topology will be better in building network in new building.
Star topology is batter in new building for networking. Star Topology is the most common type of network topology that is used in homes and offices. In the Star Topology there is a central connection point called the hub which is a computer hub or sometimes just a switch. In a Star Network the best advantage is when there is a failure in cable then only one computer might get affected and not the entire network.
Which network Topology will be better in building network between two buildings.
Tree Topology
Among all the Network Topologies we can derive that the Tree Topology is a
combination of the bus and the Star Topology. The tree like structure allows you to have many servers on the network and you can branch out the network in many ways. This is particularly helpful for colleges, universities and schools so that each of the branches can identify the relevant systems in their own network and yet connect to the big network in some way.
So we can surely connect two building network through tree topology.
Which network device(s) will be used to connect two networks?
There are many network devices can be use in connecting two networks but mostly router, bridge and switches are used.
If we use wireless network between two buildings, what will be drawbacks or risks?
(you have to describe two points)
Disadvantages or drawbacks of wireless network.
1) Cost
Wireless networks are typically inexpensive, but it can cost up to four times more to set up a wireless network than to set up a wired network in some cases.
2) Coverage
The range of a wireless network is limited and a typical wireless router will only allow individuals within 150 to 300 feet to access the network.
Dependability
3) Wireless networks are extremely susceptible to interference so radio signals, radiation and any other similar type of interference may cause a wireless network to malfunction.
Security
4) Wireless networks can be accessed by any computer within range of the network's signal so information transmitted through the network (including encrypted information) may be intercepted by unauthorized users.
In this case we will convert it into star topology Wireless networks are typically slower than wired networks, sometimes even up to 10 times slower.
Q # 2: Consider following network Topology and answer the questions given below.
(i) Identify type/name of topology used in the figure above?
There are two types of mesh topologies: full mesh and partial mesh. Above figure is showing full mesh topology.
Full mesh topology occurs when every node has a circuit connecting it to every other node in a network. Full mesh is very expensive to implement but yields the greatest amount of redundancy, so in the event that one of those nodes fails, network traffic can be directed to any of the other nodes. Full mesh is usually reserved for backbone networks.
