i think that whenever a person is doing a bad job or making crime in the society then the law is trying to giving him the punishment for doing that and according to law whenever someone making crime then there is a punishment for his crime , as crimes are of different type so there is different punishment according to the crime. there is the point that after getting the punishment the person leave that crime or not? usually the person is not leaving the crime after getting the vu solutions dot com punishment because it is in the nature of a person but accordingly psychology it is possible that the person don't make the crime again. so Yes, of course punishment reduces crime.
