Effective communication can be the key to resolving conflict. What communication barriers you can figure out that have failed all the bilateral talks between India and Pakistan for resolving the longstanding Kashmir issue? Your comments must not be more than 350 words.

Emotional barriers

One of the chief barriers to open and free communications is the emotional barrier. It is comprised mainly of fear, mistrust and suspicion. The roots of our emotional mistrust of others lie in our childhood and infancy when we were taught to be careful what we said to others.

"Mind your P's and Q's"; "Don't speak until you're spoken to"; "Children should be seen and not heard". As a result many people hold back from communicating their thoughts and feelings to others.

They feel vulnerable. While some caution may be wise in certain relationships, excessive fear of what others might think of us can stunt our development as effective communicators and our ability to form meaningful relationships.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said, “The impression should be dispelled that there is a lack of communication [between Pakistan and India],” adding however that there was a lack of trust.

Solution:

Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed area, between Pakistan and India. Since the creation of Pakistan, the concept of Kashmir as the life line of Pakistan has remained a part of the country’s official policy. By religion & faith, Kashmiri wants to adjoin with Pakistan. But India occupied the Kashmir, and above than 7 Lacs troops are deployed there to suppress the Kashmiri peoples.

Pakistan tried many times to start a dialogue with India, but every time India always sabotage the dialogues. India always makes propaganda on international forums that Pakistan is entering militants in (their) Kashmir.

Conflict (barrier):

Jammu & Kashmir is a source of conflict between India and Pakistan with both countries claiming each other’s controlled parts of Jammu & Kashmir and the Kashmiri will and opinion not taken into account by two sides. Whenever Pakistan & India starts their “composite dialogue”, India will very soon rejects these dialogues.

Attitudes (barrier):

India attitudes to Kashmir policy are very strict. She will never free the Kashmir because if she will lose the power from Kashmir, Sikh will boost up and will try to separate there Punjab from India. Kashmiri are facing the injustices, discrimination, and ruthlessness of the Indian rules for more than six decades.

Interest (barrier):

Why India has occupied Kashmir? India want to become the “Super Power” of South Asia, and suppress the China (3rd world largest economy & future world super power) and Pakistan.

Overcoming the barriers communication:

Pakistan is supporting militants (mujahidin), who fights with Indian security forces. Kashmiri Leaders are also raising their voices on international forums. Insha Allah, Kasmir will be very soon free.
