Following are some situations/ scenarios at different topics, you have to analyze each situation and identify the right answer with valid reason in respective cells. 

Scenario No. 1

Mr. Saqib is a department manager of an organization. He prefers to use imposing and commanding attitude. Whenever his subordinates are relaxed, he 
feels low achievement and productivity. So the only way he finds to tackle his subordinates for hard work is to use authoritarian behavior.

Question:
Identify the motivation theory that applies in this scenario by giving logical reasons? 

Answer:  Theory X

Reason for Choosing the Answer ?

Theory X Manager assumesthat employees are lazy, dislike work and avoid responsibility. Only through coerced work can be taken from employees. Mr. Saqib is also X Theory Manager.

Scenario No. 2

During class lecture, Ali listens to the words and sounds but not the meanings and intent. He stays just on the surface of the problem – does not go deeper as he listens to the bottom line only.

Question:
Identify which type of mindful listening it is?

Answer:  Marginal Listening

Reason for Choosing the Answer ?

In  Marginal Listening receiver  receive the information of the speaker in bits and pieces rather than the whole of it and normally do not pay attention. Mr. Ali is listening some part of lecture not as a whole so unable to understand   the exact meaning.


Scenario No. 3

Mr. Basit works very hard. He is very competent, skilled and proficient member of staff as compared to other employees. When he compares his balance of effort and reward, give and take ratio with that of his colleagues, he finds it biased and unfair.


Question:
Identify which motivation theory applies in this situation and why?

Answer:  Equity Theory

Reason for Choosing the Answer ?

Equity theory belong to Contemporary theory of motivation in which an employee compares his or her job’s inputs – outcomes ratio with that of relevant others and then corrects any inequity. In Scenario Mr. Basit is also facing the same unfair biased and feel he is not getting the right out put from its input.
